SCRANTON –Committee members of “Marrow for Mari” recently met to plan for a Bone Marrow Drive being held on June 20, 2013 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeastern Pennsylvania located at 609 Ash Street in Scranton.
Mari (Lutz) Delicati was diagnosed with Leukemia on March 8, 2013. She has gone through her first two rounds of chemotherapy with anticipation of a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, a match has not been found from family members or the national registry.
Mari is a Lakeland High School graduate and an alumna of Penn State. She currently resides in Florida, but still has ties to NEPA as several friends and family reside in this area.
The committee is asking for participants, ages 18-50, to attend the drive and register with the Be The Match Registry to save a life. All it takes is a simple swab of the cheek, and is free of charge for participants to be tested.
At the drive there will be basket raffles and a bake sale to raise funds for the Be The Match Foundation to alleviate the costs of testing for the foundation.
