Blue Cross Funds Boys & Girls Clubs Program

WILKES-BARRE - The Blue Ribbon Foundation of Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania recently awarded a $5,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeastern Pennsylvania to support a personal safety education program for kids.

The Club will partner with community-based medical, legal and emergency management professionals to offer "Kids in Control." The 12-lesson program is designed to help Club members learn the personal safety habits and practical skills they need to be safe at the Club, at home and out in the community. Sessions tailored by age group will cover topics such as first aid basics, stranger danger, controlling anger, playground safety and cyber-bullying. An estimated 100 youngsters, ages 6 through 11, at three club locations in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties will participate in the coming year.
