Boys & Girls Clubs of NEPA Hosts Annual Youth of the Year Competition


The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeastern Pennsylvania recently held its annual Youth of the Year competition. Club members must be between the ages of 13 and 18 to participate. The first place winner received a $1,000 scholarship to a higher education institution of their choice. The Club members were judged on family, school, community, and Boys & Girls Club involvement, as well as personal challenges and obstacles overcome. Representatives from the community volunteered their time to judge the competition. And the 2015 Youth of the Year winner is Xavier Harris. Enjoying the event are (l-r) Richard Kasavage, Club director; first-place winner Xavier Harris; Tricia DiBiasi Thomas, Club executive director; and Laura Gentile, Club director of operations. Xavier will participate in the Pennsylvania State Youth of the Year competition held in Pittsburgh representing the Boys & Girls Clubs of NEPA in early April.
