SCRANTON – Each year the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeastern Pennsylvania selects individuals and organizations from the community to honor for their outstanding work in advancing the cause of children and youth programming and services. Honorees are recognized because they exemplify the ideals of being a “Champion of Youth”.
To honor these distinguished individuals, the Boys &Girls Clubs of NEPA is hosting the 2014 Champion of Youth Reception. The event will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Glenmaura National Golf Club, Moosic. Event tickets are $150 each.
This year’s honorees are:

- In Memoriam, Matthew D. Mackie Jr. - Community Advocate & Foundation Board Member, Boys & Girls Clubs of NEPA
- Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. and Christine Cummings Pugh - Retired, Chief Operating Officer of Allied Services; President, Arlington Beach Corporation, New Jersey
- Thomas P. Tulaney - Executive Vice President, Peoples Security Bank & Trust Company
According to Tricia DiBiasi Thomas, executive director, “Each ‘Champion of Youth’ has given selflessly of their time and resources to ensure every child in our community will realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
The Champion of Youth Reception is the Boys & Girls Clubs of NEPA’s largest and most important fundraiser. This fundraiser alone comprises 70% of the special event fundraising budget. The proceeds from this event provide the Club with the unrestricted funds needed to supply our members with recreational and educational programs.
